I gained new perspective on the American Revolution, that of a British foot-guard class soldier as he endures bloody campaigns leading to Yorktown. The plot's engaging characters and rich background themes sharpened my appreciation for period warfare, camp life, the political and social cultures of the times, from the perspective of occupying military. I'm sure it's a novel that meets high standards in military history.
